A couple days ago I left Bangkok in the early morning and headed to Koh Samui, one of the islands in Thailand’s gulf. I splashed out for a direct flight instead of flying to Surat Thani and I am so happy I did, I was in Koh Samui by 8:30 and checked into my hostel and on the beach by 9:30. I spent most of the day at the beach, making friends with an American girl at my hostel later in the day.
We had a surprise rain storm around noon, so I headed west/south to check out some temples! I see Big Buddha and this other temple called Wat Phi Laem. They were unbelievable!
After more beach time, I headed back to the hostel. I stayed at a fantastic hostel called Casa Luna run by this English guy who now lives on Samui. He was great about giving tips on where to go, so he sent me to this local nightmarket near Big Buddha which was pretty neat! After the night market, Amanda and I watched a fantastic sunset:
Koh Samui is an awesome place! I’ll be back at the end of next week so I can’t wait to explore the rest of the island!
